Before I started working on the “3801 Lancaster” film project 2 years ago, I barely had a thought about abortion. It’s not something I had ever been close to. It wasn't a popular topic of conversation among my friends. So I lived like it didn’t exist.I was part of the blackout. The blackout isn't new. It's not exclusive to the mainstream media. This blackout happens every day in our homes and our schools and our neighborhoods. It happens when we make choices to not think and speak about abortion. It happens when we choose to live like abortion doesn't exist. So many of us are afraid to talk about it. It makes us uncomfortable. So we "blackout" abortion. And in "blacking out" abortion, we've "blacked out" the women who went to Dr. Gosnell and the babies that died at his clinic........Don’t be part of the blackout, my friends. Don't live like babies weren't killed with scissors. Don't pretend that women weren't killed and mutilated. We have to talk about it. We have to wrestle with what happened at 3801 Lancaster Avenue. Talk about it with love. Talk about it with compassion. Talk about it with conviction.Let’s break the silence together.

Everyone one of us has the responsibility to be a light in the darkness, sharing the truth about abortion.
