There have been more than 54 million abortions performed in the US since the infamous Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton court decisions were handed down by the US Supreme Court Justices. That action legalized abortion in all 50 states through all nine months of pregnancy in 1973.
The most recent statistics show 22,357 abortions were performed in Michigan in 2009, and there have been 1,017,229 abortions in Michigan since statistics were first kept in 1980.
