Tennessee woman charged with attempted murder after trying to self-abort at 24 weeks

Anna Yocca, a 31-year-old woman from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has been charged with first degree attempted murder after trying to kill her 24-week unborn child with a coat hanger.  The child survived but sustained serious injuries.

Police say doctors were able to save “Baby Yocca,” who weighed 1.5 pounds at birth.

Doctors reportedly told authorities the baby boy’s quality of life “will be forever harmed.” He will need a medical foster, have to stay on oxygen and require daily medication.

Yocca is accused of causing medical issues to the child’s lungs, eyes and heart with the hanger. Doctors said other medical issues will arise as he gets older, according to police.
